Now that we are almost at our 50th show council meeting, it’s time to shake things up. You know those funny ideas you get when you’re really high for “wouldn’t it be cool if the government operated under these pretenses…?” except you can’t remember the word for pretenses and nobody is actually funny when they’re high? Well, this meeting was like that, but funny. NOW IS THE TIME TO DIVE INTO THE PIT-OCRACY! Continue reading

048: Friendlytown Needs to Win Diane Back
We understand why you left us, Diane. We aren’t the best town in our universe; we know. We just… miss you. And we wish you would tell us you miss us, too. This isn’t any easier today than it was the day you left. We just wanted to get together, as a community, as a city council, and tell you how we feel. Just… tell us everything’s going to be alright, Diane. We still love you, and we, Friendlytown, need to win you back. Continue reading
Hot Dog! (the comedy show/hot dog-eating contest) comes to Knoxville MONDAY
Here’s the deal: we in Friendlytown have just too many hot dogs. Our surplus isn’t something we’re terribly proud of, either. So, we’ve called in a HDDM (Hot Dog Demolition Man) to help us sort this out. Dustin Meadows (whose initials match “Demolition Man,” I realize as I’m typing this and amusing myself heartily) started … Continue reading
046: Friendlytown Needs an Anthem!
Before he left Friendlytown for greener pastures (Ft. Collins, specifically, because they have hella legal weed there; his words, not ours), local troubadour and performing regular Alex Linton decided he wanted to leave our community with an anthem we could call our own. One we could force all of our athletes to awkwardly stand for before sporting events! One we could teach the next generations to love our town through. So, Alex brought us together for a special meeting where some members of our city council (like, one or two with musical talent) proposed that big patriotic (in the Friendlytown sense, at least) overture. It went as well as you’d think. Continue reading

FRIENDLYTOWN Zine Issue 3 Now Available!
Thanks to everyone who came out last night for Friendlytown’s One Year anniversary show. We had a lot of fun, ate pizza and cake, and reflected on how The Pilot Light has, between Friendtown and 2 years of QED Comedy Laboratory before us, hosted comedy just about every Monday night for three years. Unbelievable. Check … Continue reading

There is a truly absurd amount of great stand-up happening in Knoxville between now and Monday
Now, I’m not the authority on comedy shows are going down in Knoxville, but I’d be remiss if I didn’t post something here to officially let you all know these were happening from my own digital mouth. Also, I’m either performing in all of these, had a major hand in producing them, or some combination … Continue reading
Shows Tonight and Tomorrow in Knoxville Purple Monkey Dishwasher
It’s been inexcusably long since I’ve written anything here. I thought briefly yesterday about continuing a series I used to do on the old TDCpresents.com where I would embed some video from the MTV online video archive and write out a script for what I imagine the pitch meeting was like for that music video. … Continue reading
