It’s interesting to see popular stand-up, as a cultural industry, reach that point where popular music was at the end of the 1980’s (and thankfully is no longer), when reading or hearing well-crafted critiques of it was much more interesting and artistically enriching than actually listening to it.
Here’s one such critical video (that’s funnier than almost anything it critiques) that I found to be worth sharing here, since it’s an accurate reflection of how most comedians feel about Comedy in 2024. My favorite part is the joke/truism about how the Minstrel Era ended in 2005.
