I haven’t been to Memphis in almost 8 years, and I’ve never done comedy there. I’ll be remedying both of those problems on Friday night at Crosstown Brewing. Show starts at 8pm, No Cover. 1264 Concourse Avenue. Event Page Here. Per usual, I’ll have some copies of the LP with me! Now if you’ll excuse … Continue reading

In January, my friend Evan Valentine sent out a timely tweet which inspired me to rewatch these videos that some friends and I produced for Hexagon 2009 in DC. They are the funniest thing that Hexagon ever did. Here they are, in their glory, on the 10th anniversary of their creation. God bless you, Skip Maraney. … Continue reading
On the way back from Nashville on Sunday, Shane Rhyne, Tamara Rhyne, and I decided unilaterally that we needed to listen to, and spiritedly sing along with, Def Leppard’s 1983 smash hit “Rock of Ages.” We also bounced around a Spotify playlist (ugh) to their 1992 hits “Stand Up (Kick Love into Motion)” and “Have … Continue reading
Well, that was fun on Monday, me getting deposed from Friendlytown and then Table Mayor telling the FT City Council what-for. If you’re just a casual fan or someone who doesn’t know me, I don’t expect that first sentence to make any sense, it’s fine. What was also an insane amount of fun was doing … Continue reading
I told the other producers that we didn’t really need to do a special show where I step down/get deposed as Mayor of Friendlytown, but NOOOOOOOOOOO. See, that’s how stepping down as Mayor works – these new kids think they can run the show (because they can, and do). At any rate, this gives us … Continue reading
With any luck, this post will be irrelevant soon, CK having been vanquished to the dustbin of history along with other vestiges of mass culture we realized we didn’t need anymore. But until then…. Here is a handy, step-by-step guide for how to write your hot take on Louis CK most constructively. Watch or listen … Continue reading
Ever since Kevin Tit started Punkhouse Comedy in DC, I’ve wanted to get in on that. Tomorrow night, I’m getting in on that. I’m so excited. Naomi Karavani, Noah Crowley, Bridget Geiran, and Christian Escoto will be rounding out the lineup, and Kevin Tit will also be releasing his new album that night!! Maybe we’ll … Continue reading
I gave a much shorter, infinitely less coherent version of this spiel as a toast at Shoney’s on December 17th, mostly out of respect for my fellow Mayors and Citizens. Also, I was in sugar shock from the high-fructose buffet. If you’re reading this, you probably know a good deal about me. You’ve probably known … Continue reading
Yeahhhh, buddy so exciting to be back in NYC after all these years. Three, to be exact. That’s an eternity when you grew up going into the city several times a year, gawking at the tall buildings and learning how much more important everyone else’s time was than yours. Also, I don’t have an antique … Continue reading
