I could put in my own two cents about how I’ve witnessed a noticeable selling-off-to-the-highest-bidder of my Midwestern comedy home-away-from-home, but I’ll refrain from it here. I could write a diatribe about how cities with massive amounts of cool shit going on as recently as the beginning of this decade are squeezing culture out of their downtowns on the daily and putting fences up around everything else to keep artists in desperate situations while running hollow PR campaigns to make it look like they support “the arts” (you know, so long as these “arts” are family-friendly and don’t make people think too hard), but I think I’ll just keep my mouth shut.
