Three Comedy Albums You’d Like (Plus Upcoming Shows in Michigan)

Happy 2020, everyone. Here are a few comedy albums that have been released over the last year that I recommend you check out. They are by three major comedic influences at three distinct points in my life, and I think you’ll like them a lot.

a0534568131_10Shane Rhyne – The Golden Age of Shane Rhyne

Full disclosure: I featured for Shane at this recording, and you hear my voice there at the beginning. Also, I (technically) put this out on our label, RainShine Records. Shane is still working on the physical copies of this opus, but it’s the culmination of his first five years of standup on the occasion of his 50th birthday. What a great time this was, recording it at the Pilot Light (St. Thomas LeDoux producing, as god intended).

Jake and I became friends doing sketch comedy in college, and then parted ways (though kept in touch) when he moved to New York and I moved to DC. I won’t go into much detail of what path led him to Rhode Island over the past 15 years (mostly because I would flub multiple details), but his unique approach with storytelling, sketches, and some traditional (surreal) jokes is undoubtedly the result of an unconventional path. This album just the biggest breath of fresh air. He also makes amazing little absurdist zines.

z6alb01904865Pat Sievert – I Do What I Want Now

Pat Sievert is from Lansing and really, really, really funny. He has a unique voice, both sonically and comedically. I’ve done a few festivals with him, and he’s always been at the top of my “must-see” list. His first album, recorded at Mac’s Bar, is available digitally on Amazon, Apple Music, and CDBaby, but I hear tell that he’s working on a physical version!

Thanks for reading! Everything above this is timeless/evergreen. Everything below, not so much. I could just split this into two separate entries, but…EH.
